Awkward. Thought it was dumb the sorority "loser" girls changed themselves so fast. It had its funny moments but overall, I doubt I'd see it again. Anna Faris is freaking hilarious though. |

I cant say i cared for this movie and thats a shame that a director and cast of this talent wasted their talents on a movie that has nothing new to offer or nothing new to say. The style and script is very close to that of match point a better and more original movie. The only really positive thing i got out of this movie is the potential it had and that in the end the characters get what they deserved! |

Fine performances all around. Cruz does a terrific job in a very good supporting role. Not top-notch Woody, but a solid follow-up film to Cassandra's Dream earlier this year. Woody examines the same old themes, but the dialogue sounds more real than in some previous latter efforts. I liked and believed the end. |

A truly awful child actor, as well as a cliche filled plot, took a good premise and made a below average horror film. Though I will admit it had one of the best movie deaths I've seen in a while. This is still the first time I've been truly disappointed with director Aja. |

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
|
This movie was...eh. Not great. Not horrible. Ahsoka was annoying. She was probably the franchise's attempt to pander to a younger audience which is fine. Just don't give her the carriage of a ditzy mall-rat from Earth. Let her carry herself as a talented but young Jedi warrior trying to figure stuff out. I like the overall idea of an Asohka with some tweaking but the one in the movie was a total missed opportunity to have an interesting supporting character. Ventress was kick ass. Not super familiar with the animated shorts that I recognized her from but I am fascinated by her what her backstory might be. The plot was not substantive enough as it didn't make me care about the success or failure of the heroes of this story. This plot definitely needed much more tension. |

Woody Allen looks to be in top form once again with another fine film. I thought Match Point was one of the top films of 2005, and although this movie doesn't quite top it, it's just as entertaining. A thought-provoking take on relationships. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are great, and the locale is breathtaking. I thought Rebecca Hall was a little flat with her portrayal of one of the main characters, Vicky. |

My 6 year old loved it and I loved seeing it with him. However, I thought the movie was ok at best. Actually started to nod off in places. I can see this being a great tv series as I'm sure the entire war didn't center around the rescue of Jabbas kid. I guess I wanted more...I wanted plot. |

There are some great elements and scenes and Javier Bardem is great but, overall, I feel like it was really missing something. It just wasn't anything special despite its efforts.
To be honest, I think Scarlett Johansson's performance and character in general was boring whch dragged the movie down.
It should have just been Vicky Barcelona.

I am pretty close to a Woody Allen version which might be a good thing since i don't have his 40+ movies of his to compare this one to. I just have the two others that i've seen. And compared to Annie Hall and Match Point this is the weakest of the three. That doesn't however mean it's any less of a film. This is another interesting character study that is seeping with talent. Vicky and Cristina are two young Americas who take the opportunity to live in Barcelona for a couple of months with one of Vicky's family friends. Vicky, played by the fantastic yet somewhat unknown Rebecca Hal, is a cautious smart woman working on her masters degree, and engaged to her perfect guy. She has her whole life planned out and everything is going according to plan. Cristina, played by Woody Allen's latest muse Scarlett Johansson, is a free spirited girl open to just about anything trying to find her way in life. While in Barcelona they meet Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) an exciting alluring Spanish painter who offers to fly them out to his small town to show them around. They accept (Vicky quite a bit more reluctantly than Cristina) and it turns into a weekend that changes both of their lives quite a bit. I'll stop the synopsis there because being a Woody Allen film there is so much else going on. It would probably take me two hours to explain every plot point. Like Match Point this is a deliberately slow film. Later in the show Juan Antonio's ex wife shows up whom he both hates and idolizes played with wonderful ferocity by Penelope Cruz. The acting here is very good. Johansson, Bardem, Patricia Clarkson, and Kevin Dunn (as Vicky's older family friends) all do very nice work. Rebecca Hall and Penelope Cruz are especially good here playing both of their very different roles with awards worthy talent. I think Cruz my actually get some Oscar attention come the end of the year. Allen's script and direction can always be counted on to be solid and intelligent. The most interesting thing about the script to me is that in the end the characters remained true to themselves, but that might not have been a good thing. Both leads had the chance to drastically change their lives, and maybe even to make themselves more happy. But both, i think stayed true to the people that we met at the beginning of the film. It proves that finding happiness or going after what you really want requires change and that idea of change is sometimes more terrifying than remaining as the person or in the life that you have come to dislike or even despise. It was in an interesting meditation on humanity. |

Gorgeous down to the very last detail. Cruz describes Johansson as "the missing piece", but for the film it's the other way around; for Allen it's Barcelona. I couldn't help but think of the Royal Tenenbaums when I watch this due to Mattew Broaderick's narration (which I could have done without). A Revenge of the Nerds makeover with women this time. Familiar story - Playboy Bunny shacks up with sorority full of nerds and not so nice looking gals and turns them into the toast of the campus - but there are many subplots and twists beyond the basic tale. Movie gets 2 1/2 stars for the story and acting and plot but I have to give it a total of 5 stars to account for the fact that Anna Faris is the most attractive thing I've seen on the screen since Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface. |

A nerve-frying, pulse-pounding, freightning and unforgettable edge of your seat thriller. An instant classic. It makes your grab hold of your seat and clutch. One of the smartest and best horror films i've seen in years. It raises the meter high on story, character development and the suspense. It's bone-chilling, thrilling and absolutely exhilerating. A gripping, riveting, surprisngly effectionate, intense, eye-popping, brutal and mind-blowing thrill-machine from start to finish. Absorbing, shattering, terifying and shocking to it's heart-pounding conclusion. Kiefer Sutherland is electrifying, giving an incrediable movie star performance. |
