Not too long about, Russell Crowe was announced to play the role of Sheriff of Nottingham in the upcoming Robin Hood story by Ridley Scott (Gladiator). The idea was that the story would be told from the Sheriff's point of view.
Many wondered which big star would be cast as Robin Hood opposite Crowe. That question was later answered, when Scott revealed that Crowe would be playing both the Sheriff and Robin Hood. It seems that the answer created more questions. How will this work? Are they twin brothers? Will Crowe use lots of make-up to look like two different characters?
Well, all those questions have now been answered by producer Brian Graze, who revealed some plot points which can be considered spoilers.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Asked about the confusion over who Crowe is in fact playing, Grazer told MTV News: "The two role confusion is that what Robin Hood does is he sees Nottingham in battle very early in the movie and Nottingham dies. And Robin Hood takes over the identity of Nottingham. That's how it plays out."
Grazer went on to call the film "an origin story" for the characters.
Does that sound like a clever take on the classic story?
