Get outta ere, You Don't want any part of this .. lol but i have to admit ~Walk Hard~ Awesome Song,,
LMAO! such a funny movie! You will be quoting it for quite a while tell your parents roomates and friends brace themselves.
Pretty good. great music. good paradoy. some of the jokes seem a little tired by the end of it. altogether pretty clever.
Lol this movie was hillarious!!! I'm not a fan of John C. Rielly but he was funny in this movie! This movie had a bit much nudity and by a bit I mean A LOT!!! Lol one scene just keeps going with the nudity and never stops!! But this movie was hilarious! I would deffinetly recommend this movie but only for mature adults. This IS NOT a family friendly movie!!!
I saw this with a group of friends, it was hilarious what can I say. I don't poking fun a the dead though, and this felt like that though.
Such an interesting parody of all the famous singers lives, compacted into the man that is Dewey Cox.
The Songs are hilariously funny and clever. The scene with the beatles in india is the funniest scene ever. The amount of celebrities that make an appearance is monumental, although noting can be taken away from John C. Reilly's Dewey Cox.
This is a good sort of mockumentary on a non existent singer. Some really stupid shit but also some hilarious stuff. And great original soundtrack.
Apatow's "Music Movie" is uneven, but still obliterates anything from Friedberg and Seltzer. Reilly's performance powers the film through its occasional lulls, and it's amazing how many artists he can perfectly impersonate while still keeping a firm grasp on Dewey Cox as a character. The movie itself suffers from pacing issues, and even at a two-hour running time it still feels like a lot was cut out. When it hits though, it hits hard, and the script offers a good mix of sharp wit and dumb humour. Tim Meadows is a real stand-out, that guy should be in more movies. His recurring joke is probably the funniest in the movie, and that's saying a lot. The songs are all quite good as well, and funny to boot. Solid.
I have a feeling I'll grow to love this movie in time -- I didn't think much of Talladega Nights the first go-round and it's since become an all-time favourite. For Reilly's sake, I think I'll be giving this one another chance, and soon.
John C. Reilly is the funniest man alive in this movie. He just has that deadpan look to him. It's great.
Great not as good as superbad or knocked up but brilliant nonetheless reminded me more of anchorman and naked guns/airplane than sb and ku some great performance and brilliant music
08-02-08 --About as funny as you would expect it to be. I think at times it trys too hard to be funny and comes up short. Walk Hard is a spoof on all of those bio movies on rock stars/singers. Like Ray, Walk the line, Elvis and others I'm sure I missed. My favorite part had to be the Beatles appearance all played by Justin Long, Jack Black, Jason Swartzman, & Paul Rudd. Awesome.
This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in ages. Had low hopes, but was very pleasantly surprised
I hate what spoof movies have become in the last decade. All the "something" Movie's, have been terrible, little more than a thousand badly done pop-culture jokes loosely strung together. They never ever bother to stay within the genre they're supposed to be spoofing. Something like Hot Shots, which I always considered a lesser-spoof, looks like a classic compared to these films, it remains in genre, actually develops the characters and tells a bit of a story. Airplane, the king of spoof films, is as funny today as it was almost 30 years ago, and it will always be funny. While something like Epic Movie feels out of date by the time it gets to DVD. So I was happy to see the trailer for Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, it looked more like the classic spoofs, and was made by people with some talent.
Produced and written by Judd Apatow, who's been on a hit comedy roll for the past few years. Co-written and directed by Jake Kasdan, who directed episodes of Apatow's TV shows Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, along with some good films, including 2006's The TV Set. Anyways, the fairly high pedigree for this film, got my expectations up pretty high. Walk Hard, didn't quite meet those expectations, but the film is much better than the other spoof comedies of this era. And I think it's one of those films that'll grow on me over time.
Walk Hard, keeps within the rock n' roll biography, mainly spoofing Ray and Walk the Line, but touching on other films, such as The Doors and Great Balls of Fire. The great thing about it is, they take Dewey Cox through just about every genre of of music from the past 50 years. He starts off as a country-rock musician, playing shows with Elvis, a great cameo by Jack White of the White Stripes, has a spiritual awakening with the Beatles, goes through a Bob Dylan faze, moving through disco and pop, before going back to his roots. The songs are all very well written and produced, they believably sound like the songs they're mocking, while being very funny at the same time. The songs are the highlight of the film.
The performances are also very good, they give the goofy jokes a reality. Dewey was the role John C. Reilly was born to play, his charisma sells the idea of him being a huge rock star, while also selling the jokes, without being too cheesy about it. The Office's Jenna Fischer, is really wonderful as Darlene, Dewey's muse and co-singer. Tim Meadows gets a chance to shine as a member of Dewey's band, I particularly liked the scene where he tells Dewey not to try pot. Raymond J. Barry, a character actor who's usually dead serious, made me laugh every time he was on screen as Dewey's dad, even though he only had one real line: "The wrong son died!" - Repeating the same line over and over, is a gag that usually doesn't work, but he has a gravitas that sells it.
The film is well made, with great photography, editing, direction and acting, much better than the other spoofs of this era. So when all the films like Epic Movie, Date Movie and 300 Spartans, are long forgotten, I believe that Walk Hard will live on. It's not a classic, but it is a consistently funny film, that is worth seeing.

Not the best comedy I've ever seen. It had a few good points in it but too many bad points to really be tolerable and memorable. Thank God I rented it because I would have been pissed seeing this in the theaters. My mom couldn't even finish it. She went to bed not even half way through. My girlfriend and I suffered through to the end and it wasn't worth it.
It is a funny film but the performances and writing are just a little unpolished. I could see the gears turning as the actors were going through the motions - which detracted from the comedy injection.
yea really? i didn't like this movie.... what's next a weak story for the coming of NBA? of wait? semi-pro.....
I'm starting to think that you don't believe in me... Of course I believe in you, I just know that you're gonna fail...
I like what I call "stupid" humor but this was just stupid w/o the humor. I could not even finish it it was sooooo bad!

Damn thats an awesome song.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. This was a really good movie. I was also funny. Actually its a comedy, a good comedy. This movie shows the life of a rockstar, the marriages, the drugs, the temptations, the humor, and all of that stuff. Dang this was really good.
"Walk Hard

Down Life's
Rocky Road."
John Riley did a great job in his role as dewey cox. This was a really good movie.
The first 15-20 minutes were funny and the last 10-15 minutes were ok but the middle is bad. Not worth a watching.
Intermittently funny but too long. I give it a pass because I watched the "unrated" version which runs about 30 minutes longer itself.
OK - the music and the era and the singers he was modelled after are genius... the rest is crap. Another hateful character!
De3cent comedy. I like how it parodies the rock and roll cliiches. Pretty much middle of road, but the music was actually good.
Some funny moments, but I really liked Walk the Line which Dewey Cox mocks (hey, that rhymed!). Not a total waste of time.
Rather good parody of all musical biopics. Not like those other parody crap shit films which just chuck about references. The film works by itself. The jokes are spot on aiming themselves at the music industry and the medias representation of music icons. Some of it is predictable, afterall the main character is called Cox, you see where this is going. The songs are great, and as Chicago showed us John C. Reiley can really belt out a tune. I saw the extended edition which was far too long and the joke got old. I reckon the theatrical cut would be worth an extra half star. The Beatles scenes is absolutely brilliant in both its stupidity and its genius. Jack White as Elvis was also a highlight.
