The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight 5.0 Stars
The most anticipated movie of the summer and of 2008. The Dark Knight was soo hyped up that I was tired of hearing about it. But every bit of hype was well deserved, extremely well deserved. It was completely stolen by Heath Ledger. His performance as the Joker was one of the most engaging and entertaining that I've ever seen, in any capacity .He pulled off what the great Jack Nicholson wished he could have done. I wish the studios luck in possibly trying to recast him, because I can't think of anyone who could follow up a performance like that. Maggie Gyllenhaal was wonderful as Rachel Dawes, i'm actually really happy they vetoed Katie Holmes and re-casted her role. Christian Bale is a natural as Bruce Wayne, and also makes the best Batman I've seen yet, and by his side is Michael Caine, who just seems to fit perfectly as Alfred.
All in all, there is nothing disappointing about The Dark Knight. For a movie that's two and a half hours long, there isn't a dull moment. Living up to the expectations seemed impossible for it to do, but somehow The Dark Knight not only does, but surpasses it.

Hancock (2008,  PG-13)
Hancock 5.0 Stars
Hancock is no ordinary superhero at all. He's a superhero who is actually a bum. And he doesn't give a crap about anything, or how he gets the job done. He is drunk almost all the time, and has the ability to fly, superhuman strength and invulnerable to anything.
I thought the movie was great! It has the perfect amount of action, comedy & suprises. Will Smith doesn't disappoint. I highly recommend seeing this movie!

Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted 5.0 Stars
2008 is just filled it action packed movies.
Wanted was by far one of the very best action movies this year. It was a very fun wild ride from start to finish. It had everything an action movie should have - times 10; so just strap in and get ready for one hell of a roller coaster ride. It kind of got confusing at some parts in the movie so you have to pay very close attention. I was surprised at how many funny parts and jokes they had in this movie. I was also stunned by all the twists and turns the movie took toward the end. By the end of this movie it will leave you shocked. The acting could not have been any better. Angelina Jolie did an amazing job playing Fox an assasin. James McAvoy was funny but also at the same time very serious when it came down to killing people. The stunts in this movie have no words to describe how good they were. The gun techniques were outstanding. I think that the movie was even better because of it getting an R rating. Overall it's a MUST SEE for 2008.

The Incredible Hulk (2008,  PG-13)
The Incredible Hulk 5.0 Stars
I Loved this movie; it's such a good movie to start off summer '08. Alot of great action sequences, amazing C.G.I and a couple of cool cameos by Stan Lee (Hulk Creator), Lou Ferrigno (the original hulk) and Robert Downey, Jr (Iron Man himself).
Edward Norton was great as the hulk! I'm hoping for a sequel!

Changeling (2008,  R)
Changeling 4.5 Stars
This is a grueling film to watch. Angelina Jolie delivers another great performance. But unlike A Mighty Heart, this film actually deserves her presence. There is definitely reason for her acclaim as an actress, and this movie is added proof to that. The situation her character goes through is so surreal and the film captures it perfectly. It gives you chills from the second Christine is given this pretender to raise and rarely lets up. And if for one moment you tell yourself "It's just a movie" as I tried to, this actually happened. My only faux pas with the movie was it's length, two hours and twenty minutes seemed like a lifetime to me; it should have been cut down to an hour and thirty minutes at most.

A really hilarious movie!. Most of Sandler's movies are pretty much the same, but Zohan is completly different from anything he's ever done.

WALL-E (2008,  G)
WALL-E 4.5 Stars
I almost thought that i was watching the wrong movie for a second; because at the begining of Wall.E or before the movie actually starts , there's a five minute mini-movie called 'Presto Chango' about this magician and his wacky rabbit; (just a heads up).
Wall-E is this cute robot with human-like qualities, who's set to clean-up earth after it becomes heavily polluted. The movie has little or no dialogue (at some parts). You'd think that because of this the movie would be boring, but it's really not. It's probably more eantertaining than it would have been had it a full cast of voice-over actors. If you're thinking about seeing this movie you definitely should go see it.

Role Models (2008,  R)
Role Models 4.5 Stars
It's nice to see Paul Rudd in a lead role rather than just supporting.
This movie was not what i expected. I figured it to be one of those comedies where most of the funny parts are given away in the preview...I was TOTALLY wrong. I laughed so hard from the first scene to the last! The cast is perfect! I loved the sarcastic humor! If you're into movies like Superbad & Old School, then this will be your new favorite comedy! I highly recommend you see this movie.

The Duchess 4.5 Stars
I'm not a huge fan of Keira Knightley nor am i of period films, but i actually liked this one. I think this movie is the best period film K.Knightley has ever done, imo. I'm not sure if her performance was Oscar worthy, but it certainly comes close.

Pride and Glory (2008,  R)
Pride and Glory 4.0 Stars
I have been a huge fan of Edward Norton since the first time I saw Fight Club, and his performance in this film is excellent, as it is in most other films that he has done. The whole story line of this film is very good, and was very well thought out, however, it seems to jump around a lot, which makes some parts somewhat confusing. Overall, this was definitely a good movie, and I most certainly recommend it.

Sex Drive (2008,  R)
Sex Drive 4.0 Stars
If you've seen Not Another Teen Movie, Road Trip, Superbad, American Pie and any other outrageous 'Teen Comedy' you've already seen Sex Drive. That's not to say that I didn't laugh, it does keep you laughing even if the love story is a little predictable.
Also, James Marsden is HILARIOUS in this movie. I would have never guessed he could be such a idiot and look so amusingly pathetic while he's at it, truly amazing guy.

RocknRolla 4.0 Stars
4/5 Stars. The movie starts out slow but once everyone is introduced to you and you figure their role, it all comes together quite nicely. It has the right mix of humor, action, intrigue, and drama. If you love movies such as 'The Usual Suspects' and perhaps even 'Pulp Fiction' then you'll most likely love this movie.

The Wackness (2008,  R)
The Wackness 4.0 Stars
Two reasons that made me want to go see this film was; one I'm a sucker for indie films and two i loved the soundtrack.
I think the last really good Indie film i saw was Juno and that left a lasting impression on me; I loved it. The Wackness is definitely added to that list.
Even though the title may suggest comedy, The Wackness is by far a drama more than anything else.
The whole setting and story makes you feel like you're really back in '94. The plot was unique and hot with no fairytale-wack happy ending, but instead showed real life. The acting was great and it has many humorous quotes, and it's just real interesting! I had a lot of HIGH expectations for this movie, and it definitely lived up to every one of them!

This movie is what you'd call a "light comdey". If you've seen the trailer, don't bother watching the movie; most of the "laugh-out-loud" scenes were given away in the trailers.

Burn After Reading (2008,  R)
Burn After Reading 3.5 Stars
I was kind of hoping for another brilliant one-two punch after No Country for Old Men, like Fargo and The Big Lebowski, but Burn After Reading has the feel of being written and made quickly and without much refining. Structurally, it's most like Lebowski, in that it's about a bunch of people mixed up in stuff that is beyond them, mostly nobodies finding themselves in a convoluted spy plot. The joke is that no one really knows that it's all much ado about nothing. Brad Pitt is the only one who really gets laughs. His meeting with Malkovich, most of which was shown in the trailer, was pretty great.
Besides the goofy plot, there's nothing here even resembling the Coen Brothers.

The Eye 3.5 Stars
I've seen tons of horror movies, and still this one doesn't top the list. Although the storyline was very interesting and unusual, i'm still not sure that Jessica Alba was the best pick for the lead role. Overall it was an okay movie and deserves no more than 3 1/2 stars.

The Love Guru (2008,  PG-13)
The Love Guru 3.0 Stars
This movie was comparable to You Dont Mess with the Zohan. You cannot expect for this movie to enlighten you or have some hidden deep meaning. There was nothing serious about it. You have to have a sense of humor about farts jokes, and crude humor. This was similiar to his Austin Power movies where Myers makes many references to the size of his johnson and sexual conotations. The acting was good on the part of Mike Myers, I laughed at his ridiculous jokes throughout the whole movie.
Justin Timberlake's acting was less than mediocre, how many times is he going to prove the fact that he can't act.
Overall it's not a movie worth going to the cinema to see, it's one of those movies you can watch once and then never again.

Eddie Murphy hasn't been funny in years and this latest installment is further evidence of that. Terrible. Would strongly recommend skipping this, even on DVD. Should have learned my lesson with Murphy after Norbit... possibly the worst movie in history... at least he left the fat suits at home this time.... you've been warned.
