Rollerball (1975, R)
The idea that corporations will rule the world one day seems very realistic. It is hard to understand the society in which the characters live in this film by just watching the film. Reading the plot online, I understood it better. The movie needs to have an explaination of the history behind the rollerball game and why they play it. |

Dune (1984, PG-13)
This movie is only brilliant if you've read the books, at least the first book. If you haven't you'll hate this film, and it'll be a waste of your time. It follows the book very close and if you don't understand what's going on, you'll get bored and confused. Having read Dune, I really enjoyed this movie. |

RoboCop (1987, R)
This movie sort of goes over the top to satirize the Hollywood action movie, like kurosawian said, but it also has the same sort of message that movies like The Fly and Demon Seed, where people go messing with nature and technology, and it messes things up. They could have left the cop buried in his grave, but they had to make their robot cops for the corporation, eventually he starts to remember who he is, and he wishes he wasn't brought back. I really liked this movie both because of that and because of how funny it is. I really recommend seeing this. |

The Tommyknockers (1993, R)
This is a very interesting movie, that sort of reminded me of Needful Things, except that there were aliens instead of the devil as the culprit of the strange happenings in the small town in Maine. It's great to see films based on some of Stephen King's science fiction stories instead of his horror stories for once. |
